Contemporary Performance Space — Espacio Interior Theater
The Espacio Interior theater group of Camagüey cultivates a very characteristic form of contemporary theater. In its performances, the dramatization has a high degree of freedom and the public is an indispensable part of it. This particularity makes the stage space have particularities that are not found in traditional confrontation or embouchure theaters. In this type of theater, there is no physical division between the stage and the spectator room or stalls. The stage complex is characterized by a single, horizontal space - without the corresponding staggering or audio-visual slope that characterizes confrontation theater - which allows the use of the stage space in different ways.
It’s a simple design. The conceptual meaning of the building’s façade has been inspired by the scenic
curtain of a typical theater. However, simplicity does not limit the degree of design of the building. Thearchitectural expression has been conceived from the game or visual syntax between the surfaces:the front wall will be punctured in a good part of its area and will allow the game of a curved or undulatingwall that enters and leaves the perimeter of the front wall in a manner from zip zap.
